The project reaches a milestone—Substantial Completion—as the contractor officially turns over the building to the Museum. Landscaping begins but is interrupted due to extreme conditions of heat and drought.
Late Spring
As exterior construction nears completion, East Building gallery finishing touches are completed. In the Main Building, 18 reimagined galleries have opened. The St. Louis community anticipates a mid-2013 grand opening of the new Museum Campus.

The two Buildings, Main and East, are tied together; and the new Information Desk arrives and is installed in Sculpture Hall. Work begins to rebuild the South Terrace, and the new Service Dock and Staff Entrance near completion.

Concrete panels are tilted up and placed on the exterior of the East Building. Flooring materials begin to be installed throughout new and renovated areas. In the South Building, work continues on the new Education Center, and extensive Auditorium renovations begin.

On the second anniversary of groundbreaking, it is announced that the Campaign for the Saint Louis Art Museum has successfully raised over $147 million.

The East Building is officially sealed to the elements.
The exterior panels are poured, set, and polished; the new restaurant kitchen is laid out; mechanical systems are brought on line; and new boilers provide heat for the entire Museum Campus. In early November, the renovated Museum Shop opens.
Curators and preparators work to install reimagined galleries.
