Kara Lyn (Robinson) Anderson served as the Romare Bearden Fellow at the Saint Louis Art Museum from 1996 to 1997. She earned her MA in art history with an emphasis in African art from the University of Illinois-Urbana. Upon completion of the Bearden Fellowship, Anderson returned to the Saint Louis Art Museum as a museum educator. After leaving St. Louis, she spent five years as the collections and program manager at the Spelman Museum of Fine Art in Atlanta, developing museum volunteerism and contracting as a program developer for Imagine It! at the Children's Museum of Atlanta. For the past eight years Anderson has been living abroad in Chad, Cameroon and the African island nation of Madagascar, where she has worked at several US Embassies and served as head of the English department at L'ecole Le Flamboyant (a private international French school for grades Pre-K through 5) in Yaoundé, Cameroon. She is currently head of translation services at Amabtovy, a Malagasy mining company located in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
