Sherri Williams was the Saint Louis Art Museum 2009–10 Romare Bearden Graduate Minority Fellow. She received her BA in African and African American Studies from Washington University in St. Louis. In 2007 she was awarded a Foreign
Languages and Area Studies Fellowship to attend the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. While at the university, Williams studied Kiswahili and received an MA in African studies with a concentration in East Africa.
As Bearden Fellow, she helped catalogue a set of the Saint Louis Art Museum's African textiles, and participated in PNC Bank's Grow Up Great initiative, a school readiness program that introduces preschool-aged children to the Museum and other cultural institutions in St. Louis. Williams is currently an associate educator at the Saint Louis Art Museum where she coordinates youth and family programs.
