This symposium will provide a rare opportunity to explore topics presented in the exhibition. Speakers include prominent scholars from the United States and Europe, many of whom have contributed to the study of 19th century France in subjects as diverse as art history, technology, social history, and photograpy.

Wear your beret, say "Oui!" and join us for this month's SLAM Underground, Vive La France! See the exhibition Impressionist France: Visions of Nation from Le Gray to Monet, make a souvenir in our interactive Art Lab, strike your best pose at our French photo booth, and sip a fancy drink from the cash bar. All this, plus flash French language lessons, music by DJ Mark Early, and a special live performance by The Ye-Ye's at 7:30 pm. The Ye-Ye's, an all-female band from Chicago, have won a loyal following with their repertoire of 1960s pop gems from around the world—all sung in French.
