The Richardson Memorial Library, located in the South Wing, is the research center of the Saint Louis Art Museum. Its non-circulating collection of over 100,000 volumes of books, exhibition catalogues, art periodicals, and auctions catalogs can be searched via the online catalog. The library also maintains artist files with extensive clippings on St. Louis artists. The Museum's Archives and satellite Resource Centers are managed by the library. Access to the Internet and art-related databases is available in the library's Reading Room. Photocopies are provided for a nominal fee. Library staff can assist with research in person or by phone, but some of our frequently asked questions are addressed here: FAQ. The Art Research Service answers email requests. The library is open to the public.
During construction, the Library is open on Thursdays, by appointment only. To schedule a visit, please call 314.655.5252. Please make reservations 48 hours in advance.
