SUMMARY:Celebrating Juneteenth: Black Music Month
DESCRIPTION:Honoring the power and influence of Black music\, the Museum will celebrate Juneteenth with a free lecture and musical performance celebrating the recent acquisition of Dear Friend\, a limited-edition portfolio of 12 photogravures that reproduce original drawings by St. Louis-born artist Oliver Lee Jackson honoring his late friend\, composer\, and musician Julius A. Hemphill. \nThe event will include live music provided by Kasimu Taylor and the Afro-Futurists\, courtesy of the National Blues Museum\, and a lecture by Shaka Myrick\, 2021–2023 Romare Bearden Fellow.
