Bukky Gbadegesin, Associate Professor of Art History and African American Studies, Saint Louis University.
Dr. Gbadegesin will discuss the historic lack of representation of people of color in Western art history and Kehinde Wiley’s artistic practice of creating large-scale oil paintings of contemporary African American subjects in poses that recall grand traditions of European and American portraiture.
