This week\, explore Aymara Weavings: The Indigenous Andes in collaboration with Hispanic Festival\, Inc.\, and S&S Farm Exotic Petting Zoo. \nLearn about Aymara textile traditions and their deep connections to land and community. Try on sample weavings\, talk with artist Aymara Duran-Calla about Indigenous knowledge\, and experience a Pachamama (Mother Earth) altar as an example of how these textiles are used in cultural practice. An artist’s display\, Threads of Reciprocity: Offerings to Pachamama\, highlights the living traditions of Aymara textiles and the principle of reciprocity with the Earth. Meet a live llama and alpaca from S&S Farm Exotic Petting Zoo\, and discover the differences between their fleece\, which is used to create traditional clothing and textiles.
