DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to the Museum every Sunday for hands-on art activities and special interactive components for kids within the galleries. Each week’s activities focus on a different\, family-friendly theme. \nCelebrate the opening of The Culture: Hip Hop and Contemporary Art in the 21st Century with us during this Family Sunday event! Reflect on the soundtrack of your life by creating a personalized album cover during this week’s art making activity. \nSTL Rock School- Hands-on Beat Making and Music Demonstration\nGrigg Gallery 216\, 1-4 PM\nJoin STL Rock School for an afternoon of beat-making\, music production\, and live instrument demos. Learn to produce beats in various genres of hip-hop and electronic music using the same tools as the pros in the studio. STL Rock School will show interested music producers how to enhance their beats by building tracks with Ableton recording software\, enabling them to explore the world of capturing audio and sound. And they’ll also provide some of the cool band equipment that makes the school special\, so you can jam on synths\, guitars\, and drums just like on stage. \nYoung Men of Vison- STEP Performance\nSculpture Hall\n2:30- 3:00 PM\nThe Young Men of Vision Mentoring Program (Y.M.O.V.) is the Middle School component and 1st tier in the 3-tiered\nyouth organization of Gentlemen of Vision Rites of Passage Enterprises\, Inc. \nY.M.O.V. engages middle school males in positive social and academic programs to ensure that all members will be\nsocially and academically prepared for the high school level. Y.M.O.V. is one of the top ranked Step Teams in the country and has won 3 national championships \nSaint Louis Story Stitchers Artists Collective\,  DJ UP\, a new DJ + Dance premiere performance celebrating Hip Hop’s 50th Anniversary\nGarage Lab\, Sculpture Hall\n2:00 PM & 3:00 PM \nSaint Louis Story Stitchers is a nationally recognized Artists Collective known for high quality art and innovative youth violence prevention programs. Stitchers collect stories\, reframe and retell them through art\, writing and performance to promote understanding\, civic pride\, intergenerational relationships and literacy. \nCOMMUNITY BOJAGI– FAMILY FRIENDLY SEWING PROJECT\nEducation Center 1-4 PM\nJoin us for a month-long artist-led sewing project to create a community tapestry inspired by a traditional Korean textile form called bojagi (wrapping or covering cloth commonly made from silk or ramie). \nCustomize a fabric patch and learn how to stich them together! Your unique artwork will then be added to this collaborative tapestry. \nThe completed Community Bojagi will be unveiled during Family Sunday\, on September 24\, 2023. Artwork will be on display in the concourse on Level 1 until October 1. \n
