SUMMARY:Public preview of Monet/Mitchell: Painting the French Landscape
DESCRIPTION:Offering a fresh view of two of the most experimental painters of the 20th century\, Monet/Mitchell: Painting the French Landscape is the first exhibition in the United States to examine the complex dialogue between the work of the French Impressionist Claude Monet and the American Abstract Expressionist Joan Mitchell. \nCelebrate the opening of Monet/Mitchell with drinks and entertainment in Sculpture Hall and free tickets to the exhibition. Visit the galleries to see the exhibition for yourself\, and at 6 pm hear curators from the Musée Marmottan Monet\, the Fondation Louis Vuitton\, and the Saint Louis Art Museum discuss highlights of the exhibition in an opening lecture in SLAM’s Farrell Auditorium. \n\nMonet/Mitchell is open exclusively to Museum Members on Thursday\, March 23 and Friday\, March 24 until 4 pm.\nThe free public preview of the exhibition begins on Friday\, March 24 at 4 pm and last entry is at 8 pm. Tickets to see the exhibition during the public preview are available on site only.\nCocktails are available for purchase from 4 pm to 8 pm in Sculpture Hall.\nElsie Parker and the Poor People of Paris will perform French jazz standards in Sculpture Hall from 5 pm to 8 pm.\nNatural Inspirations: A Conversation about Monet and Mitchell\, a presentation by curators from the Musée Marmottan Monet\, the Fondation Louis Vuitton\, and the Saint Louis Art Museum\, begins at 6 pm in SLAM’s Farrell Auditorium.
