SUMMARY:Tamara de Lempicka: Beyond Deco
DESCRIPTION:The annual Mary Strauss Women in the Arts lecture will be given by Furio Rinaldi\, Curator in Charge of the Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts in the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. \nJoin Rinaldi in revisiting the path-defining career\, layered artistry\, and adventurous life of Tamara de Lempicka\, one of the great protagonists of the artistic scene in the early 20th century. This lecture is in conjunction with the first US-museum retrospective of de Lempicka’s work in San Francisco and Houston\, and in preparation for SLAM’s upcoming exhibition Roaring: Art\, Fashion\, and the Automobile in France. \nThis program is supported by the Mary Strauss Women in the Arts Endowment.
