SUMMARY:Understanding Learning from Museums: A 50-Year Journey
DESCRIPTION:Museums have always been in the education business\, but over the past 50 years\, what it means to support public education has changed significantly. Change has occurred on several fronts\, including change in how researchers and the public understand and define the nature of learning and change in the appreciation of the critical role that museums can and do play in supporting the public’s learning. \nJohn H. Falk\, founder and principal researcher at the Institute for Learning Innovation\, has been both an observer and a participant in these changes and this talk represents both a field-wide and personal examination of the topic of museums and learning.
