NOTES
Nicholas Nixon's views of his family reveal a profound warmth and intimacy. There is also a visual playfulness inspired by the spontaneous and uninhibited poses of his children. This composition shows his wife, Bebe, and his two children, Clementine and Sam, tenderly interlocked through their arms. Nixon's framing verges on abstraction, leaving the viewer to contemplate the tangle of limbs that crisscross the picture frame.
