Saint Louis Art MuseumHello, I’m Min Jung Kim, Barbara B. Taylor Director of the Saint Louis Art Museum.
I’m delighted to welcome you to the Collection Guides, a self-directed experience focusing on selected works of art across the Museum’s collection through multiple lenses. Collection Guides offer a diverse group of voices, narratives, and creative responses to works of art from around the world that capture life’s beauty and joy, struggles and triumphs, through varied lived experiences and perspectives.
This installment of the Collection Guides is called Power of Place. It brings together a variety of artworks and speakers celebrating arts of the African diaspora, including Black, African, and African American people, artists, and cultures. You will hear commentary from local community members, curatorial insights, and even music to listen to and share.
This guide provides multiple ways to experience the multifaceted meaning that place holds in the featured works of art. Each Collection Guide track is unique, and I encourage you to experience them in any order you like. Whether you’re listening from home or in the Museum galleries, I hope you enjoy the Collection Guides.
