NOTES
Anni Albers created this vibrant geometric lithograph by layering black and brown triangles, a motif she also had used in her textiles. Albers began her studies at the Weimar Bauhaus in 1922 and joined the textile and weaving workshop, as did many female students. Albers studied under Gunta Stölzl and Paul Klee, who both taught Bauhaus theories of color, form, and design. Albers was always interested in artistic process and in developing and implementing new techniques. She began working in the print medium in the 1960s, and by 1970, she had moved away from fabrics to work exclusively in printmaking.
