NOTES
The distinct bright color and delicate walls of this vessel are indicative of a ceramic type known as Thin Orange Ware, popular at the ancient metropolis, Teotihuacan. Most Thin Orange vessels are either undecorated or embellished with sets of incised wavy lines and dots, as seen here. Prized for extreme durability and light weight, Thin Orange ceramics were suitable for transport over long distances. The production and transportation of this ceramic was organized and controlled by the people of Teotihuacan. Made of clay from nearby southern Puebla, where they were also manufactured, Thin Orange ceramics were imported to Teotihuacan in massive quantities.
