NOTES
Commonly known as a Baloch rug, this type of Persian rug is named for the nomadic Baloch people living in the Khorāsān region in eastern Iran where it was produced. The simple red and blue palette, highlighted with white, is characteristic of Baloch rugs.
The patterns in any given Baloch rug are specific to their region of origin. In this example, the outer border has a repeating diamond pattern, which is emphasized by two white geometric bands. The central rectangle is filled with recurring octagons and squares.
