NOTES
For this work, Robert Morris constructed a set of miniature double doors in relief, complete with handles, but permanently shut. The doors suggest the possibility of accessing the meaning of the work, but since they cannot be opened, the object remains impenetrable. With these closed doors, made of unconventional materials, Morris offered a clever metaphor for the difficulty a viewer might have in understanding this work.
