NOTES

In this image, bottle shadows appear as the shadows of figures, moving through a carnival landscape of mirrors and walls where space seems to fold in upon itself. Czech photographer Jaromir Funke made poetic arrangements in his studio using primarily the shadows and reflections of objects from beyond the frame. Drawing upon currents in the emerging Surrealist aesthetic, Funke created alternate realities that were provocatively mysterious.
