Notes:
[1] According to Mr. Lopata, he and Mrs. Lopata purchased the enamel from Alfred Spero on August 9, 1967 [handwritten notes on a letter dated July 11, 1989, SLAM document files]. An invoice from Alfred Spero dated August 9, 1967 mentions "a pair of enamel plaques 'en grisaille,' 16th century" [SLAM document files]. Although the plaque is not specifically cited, the description most likely refers to this plaque.
