The artist distills the environment down to its primordial essentials of air and water, communicating an impression of limitless space. Hiroshi Sugimoto's technically exquisite photograph depicts a kind of ancient mystery in which the primeval forces that bound early man and Nature together are resurrected through a meditative and delicate image.
