NOTES
This richly colored page once formed part of an antiphonary, a type of choral book. The lime green, subtly-toned faces and the black outlining are characteristic of the workshop of the Master of the Conradin Bible. That artist was named for a particularly beautiful bible that was owned by the German boy emperor Conrad V (known by the diminutive Conradin) who lived from 1262 to 1268. The subject of the illustration has not been identified, although scholars believe the building, a double church with a dome, is intended to represent a specific structure.
