NOTES
Walter Peterhans’s still life arrangements were made out of organic and man-made found objects. They are delicately arranged and photographed with crystalline clarity to provide a perfectly balanced experience of form, line, and texture. Interestingly, Peterhans signed this particular print upside-down, creating an entirely new orientation for his design. A professor at the Bauhaus school, Peterhans’s photographic compositions stemmed equally from his interests in philosophy, mathematics, optics, and aesthetics.
