NOTES
The lacy structure of old, tattered, accordion-style shutters inspired the design and style of this textile. The prototype for Shutter was made by stitching twisted nylon tape onto a water-soluble backing that was then dissolved, leaving behind a meandering, calligraphic pattern. The same process was ultimately mass-produced by a computerized embroidery machine.
