He had a large personal collection of art. Sorensen, Lee, ed. "Brimmer, Martin." Dictionary of Art Historians. 21 Jan 2019 http://www.arthistorians.info/brimmerm. His wife retained some works and it is unclear if the reference to ex: Brimmer collection that came with the museum purchase refers to objects sold during the lifetime of Martin Brimmer or his wife (-1916).
