NOTES
This beautifully cast, hollow candlestick elegantly tapers toward the notched or crenellated drip tray. In the center of the tray, a candle made of wax or tallow (animal fat) would be set down on the pointed brass tip, called a pricket. Decorative touches, such as the alternating holes around the drip tray and the rings of varying sizes along the shaft, enhance the graceful lines.
