Notes:
[1] Hanswaldt is listed as the owner in a 1946 publication [Vivó, Jorge, ed. "Mexico Prehispanico: culturas, deidades, monumentos." Mexico: Rafael Loera y Chavez for Editorial Emma Hurtado, 1946: pl. 35].

[2] The Museum's Accession Record and Minutes from the acquisition meeting both cite Earl Stendahl as the owner. However, a letter dated May 29, 1950 from the Museum to Stendahl suggests the Museum had received an invoice for 84-86:1950 from Joseph W. Damman. A letter from Stendahl to the Museum dated June 1, 1950 confirmed that Joseph W. Damman, Stendahl's son-in-law, actually owned the objects [Director's Correspondence, Archives, Saint Louis Art Museum; Record Card, SLAM document files]. Minutes of the Administrative Board of Control of the City Art Museum, May 11, 1950.
