NOTES
Like a pulsing city grid, the irregular checkerboards of this block-printed fabric have an unexpected, disconnected rhythm. Designed by Max Snischek, Elfenbein was produced in the last years of the Wiener Werkstätte, an influential interiors and fashion firm in Vienna, Austria. Printed on both cotton and silk, this popular pattern was used for upholstery, cushion covers, and clothing, showcasing the company’s flexible and expansive approach to textiles.
