Notes:
This Chair is part of a set of doll's furniture acquired by the Museum. Each of the pieces in the set (29:2001 - 33:2001) share the same provenance.

[1] According to a letter from Jane S. Shapleigh dated December 2000, the set of doll furniture was given to Mrs. Shapleigh by her mother, Jane Wells Smith; the set had been in the collection of the family for four generations, beginning in the 1890s when Jane S. Shapleigh's great-grandmother acquired it as a child [SLAM document files].

[2] Deed of Gift dated January 9, 2001 [SLAM document files]. Minutes of the Collections Committee of the Board of Trustees, Saint Louis Art Museum, March 1, 2001.
