NOTES
In this drawing Günther Förg portrays window reflections with bold black lines and areas of bright colors. Simultaneously, the viewer sees an exterior fire escape at right, the window pane, and elements of the room's interior. The imagery is a mediation on the spatial relationships of light and color. The work also mirrors the mood of the artist on the day he painted it, New Year's Eve, 1985. Förg painted this work after mourning his father's death, saying that he chose lighter colors beneath the black to convey hope.
