NOTES
Hubert Kiecol's striking black and white drawing of a geometric, simplified shape represents the side of an ordinary house. This work is part of an untitled series of drawings that feature both common buildings and isolated structural elements. For Kiecol, his use of the color black is appropriate for the building the form represents. The drawing makes reference to sculptures the artist was making at the time. Kiecol produces works that structural features from any spatial context to leave the viewer feeling slightly disoriented and bewildered.
