NOTES
In this scene, a shirtless boy blissfully turns his face up to the sun. His outstretched arms serve as a bridge between the children peeking out of the doorway at left and the girl languidly resting her head on her hand in the window at right. Nicholas Nixon's skill at black and white printing conveys the sensual quality of natural light that is both reflected and absorbed by the smooth skin of the children and the crackled paint of the house.
