NOTES
This photograph shows students in their school classroom, responding to Nicholas Nixon's camera with a mixture of unguarded warmth and playful curiosity. Beginning in the early 1990s, Nixon photographed students at three schools in the Boston area: The Tobin School (a Cambridge elementary school); the Boston Latin Grammar School (an elite college preparatory school); and the Perkins School for the Blind. With extraordinary sensitivity, Nixon explored the challenges and aspirations of youth through the range of activities in their daily lives.
