NOTES
The geometric designs embroidered along the outer edges of this blanket reflect conventions of early reservation era beadwork on the Northern Plains. The shape of the work, however, recalls older saddle blankets made from whole pelts of animals including mountain lions and wolves. Extending from each side, strips of beadwork and plaited fringe evoke animal legs from those prototypes.
