NOTES
Looking out from a Colorado mountain, our view of an expansive landscape is framed by a line of dark evergreens. At first glance, the view is too bright and abstract to process, but then we notice the suburban sprawl extending far into the Eastern Plains. Through such photographs, Robert Adams reconciles the despoliation of the American West. Adam was a leading practitioner of the "New Topographics" movement of the 1970s which was concerned with the impact of unbridled commercial development.
