NOTES
"University of Oslo VIII," is one of a series of photographic views that Candida Höfer took of a grand lecture hall at the University of Oslo, Norway. Amidst the strong, regularized geometry of the space, signs of the teacher’s presence can be seen in the lower left corner: a cushion rests askew on a wooden chair while a drooping electrical cord powers a lamp and microphone. These artifacts are humble, dwarfed by their enormous, opulent surroundings, yet essential to the practice of teaching and learning.
