This drawing was inspired by Herta Müller's encounters with nature. Lines of various widths spread in arching motions across the sheet. Smudges and patches of varying shades of blue and gray appear throughout the work. Her simplified compositions, which evoke twisted branches and windblown grasses, strike a delicate balance between spare forms and the expanse of white paper. Müller's interest in abstraction encourages us to respond subjectively. The artist said: "I would like to offer viewers a free realm, where they can develop their own sensations and perceptions. This is why I seldom title my works."
