NOTES
The central pattern on this plate is a stylized landscape with the “courting cranes” motif, which features a standing crane gazing at another crane in flight. The cavetto has four floral reserves separated by a red geometric pattern with central chrysanthemums in red and gold. The flat sloping rim is decorated with flying cranes and floral motifs. Inspired by 17th-century Imari ware from Japan, “Chinese Imari” is characterized by its typical blue, red, and gold palette.
