The SLAM chair is one of two purchased by David A. Hanks or by David A. Hanks and the Art Institute of Chicago. Both chairs were received at the Art Institute of Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Hanks acquired this chair from David A. Hanks and later gave it to the Saint Louis Art Museum.
