NOTES
This miniature painting depicts a young woman standing in profile looking to the viewer’s right. Her left hand is raised, toying with a necklace, while the other hand is placed on her hip. She wears a pink ankle-length full skirt woven with gold floral pattern and an orange hem, a white sheer blouse cut just below her breasts, and ornamented flat slippers. Her jewelry includes a pearl pendant on her forehead, pearled earrings, short and long necklaces, armlets, and bracelets. A green scarf covers her head, the ends hanging over the shoulders, one end behind and one in front of the body. Her elegant garments made of fine materials and her lavish jewelry reflect the wealth of the Mughal court.

The wide outer border has gold decoration of birds, fantastic animals, and a hunter in the lower left corner.
