NOTES
This pierced basket and stand feature landscape scenes painted on the interior bottom of the basket and on the matching underplate. The junctures of reticulation, or web structure, are decorated with applied blue and white florets. The basket and stand are based on originals produced by the Royal Worcester Porcelain Factory (established in 1751) in England. These objects are examples of “Canton” ware, named after the city (now Guangzhou) from which they were shipped to Europe and America.
