NOTES
Classical ornaments such as copper plaques bearing the likeness of Bacchus, the Roman god of wine; carved swags of laurel; and gilded leaves adorn this Renaissance Revival-style pedestal. This work, which resembles an inverted column and is topped with an Ionic capital, would have been used to display sculpture in a home.
