NOTES

Water Hyacinth 2 draws attention to the curving shapes, folds, and crinkles of stiff unfolding leaves. The glossy, lined surfaces add interest to the simple composition. The leaf spears are positioned directly against a light background and cast strong shadows. Photographer Imogen Cunningham framed this image so that the tapered point of the plant is cropped, although its remaining shape is easy to imagine.
