Who are the Engagement Guides?
You can apply if you:
- Have a love of art, a desire to learn more and to teach others.
- Are (at least) 18 years old.
- Are a current student at Harris-Stowe State University.
- Will be returning to Harris-Stowe State University in Fall 2023 (you will not be graduating in Spring 2023).
- Are available to work Monday through Friday, beginning July 25, 2023 and ending August 18, 2023 between 9:30am to 3 pm.
- Are available to work at least ten (10) hours per week during The Culture: Hip Hop and Contemporary Art in the 21st Century exhibition.
- Have reliable transportation to and from work (public transportation is acceptable).

- Deadline for applications: July 14, 2023
Then what happens?
- Applications will be reviewed by Museum staff.
- Finalists will be contacted by phone and email to arrange interviews.
- A selection process will take place.

- Learn new skills, including how to teach about art and artists.
- Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Learn how to engage visitors of all ages through dynamic and meaningful experiences in the Museum.
- Develop a specific engagement activity, pop-up talk, or presentation on artworks for inclusion in an audio guide and an in-person presentation on The Culture: Hip Hop and Contemporary Art and the Museum’s collection.
