Art Influences with The Black Rep
In collaboration with The Black Rep, the Museum will host a one-hour talk by Khalid Long of Howard University. Connecting the current exhibition Romare Bearden: Resonances and The Black Rep’s King Hedley II performance, this talk will consider Bearden’s influence on playwright August Wilson. Both artists centered the African American experience within their respective mediums, with Bearden’s works directly motivating Wilson’s depiction of Black life post-Emancipation.
