Collectors Circle—Mary Savig
Please join us for a Friends of American Art and Design event with Mary Savig, the Fleur and Charles Bresler Curator-in-Charge for the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. A culmination of five years of on-the-ground and behind-the-scenes research, State Fairs: Growing American Craft is the first exhibition dedicated to artists’ contributions to the great US tradition of state fairs, with more than 240 artworks on view, dating from the mid-19th century to the present. Its curator, Mary Savig, will share insights into the exhibition’s development and stories of craft found in different areas of the fairgrounds, from the art exhibits and heritage villages to the parades, dairy barns, and rodeos.
Registration is required. RSVP by June 8 to [email protected] or call 314.655.5126.
