Drop-in Tour with The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis—2 Pianos 4 Hands
Join a guided tour of SLAM’s collection inspired by 2 Pianos 4 Hands, which examines themes of music, coming of age, memory, ambition, artistic discipline, and the pursuit of excellence. This tour is offered in partnership with The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis.
2 Pianos 4 Hands will be performed at The Rep from October 7–25, 2026.
About the program
Four hands. One hundred seventy-six keys. Boundless brilliance. Get ready for one wildly funny explosion of talent that journeys through the world of music lessons, childhood dreams, and the relentless pursuit of greatness. 2 Pianos 4 Hands follows “piano nerds” Ted and Richard as they navigate pushy parents, eccentric teachers, brutal competitions, and the eternal question: how far can talent—and sheer determination—really take you? Featuring the music of Bach, Beethoven, Billy Joel, Jerry Lee Lewis, and more, this dazzling display of musicianship is a tour-de-force performance of live music that not only hits all the right notes but tickles the ivories and your funny bone too.
This tour is an excellent way to enhance your understanding of the production and reflect upon the connections between visual arts and theater. Volunteer educators will meet attendees at the welcome desk in Sculpture Hall. Groups are limited to 15 participants per educator.
