Family Sunday—Embracing Every Ability
Uncover the stories of the Museum’s collection on Sunday afternoons with a gallery exploration and hands-on art activities. This week highlights artists of all abilities in connection with Autism Awareness Month. Enjoy special performances and sensory activities, and create an artwork to take home in the Create Lab.
Family Sunday schedule
1–4 pm, Sculpture Hall
Create a custom puzzle inspired by artworks in the Museum collection in the Create Lab.
1–4 pm, Education Center
Enjoy customizing your own slime and experimenting with textures and styles in a Sensory Friendly Family Lounge, led by Kidz Play STL, a mobile events company with activities for all ages and abilities.
1:30–2 pm, Sculpture Hall
Join us for a tour of related artwork found in the Saint Louis Art Museum collection. Space is limited, and sign-up is required. Sign-up begins at 1 pm in Sculpture Hall. The Family Tour leaves at 1:30 pm from the welcome desk.
2:30–3:15 pm, Grigg Gallery

About Kidz Play STL
Jamean Flowers is the founder of Kidz Play STL, and the proud mom of a bright, beautiful little girl named Jayla. When Jayla was diagnosed with autism, their world shifted in the most unexpected and powerful way. Flowers began to see how much joy, connection, and growth could happen through play—especially when it’s inclusive, sensory-friendly, and made with love. That’s how Kidz Play was born: out of a deep desire to create fun, engaging, and meaningful experiences, not just for her daughter but for all kids. Kidz Play STL does what they do because every child deserves to feel celebrated, seen, and supported while having the time of their lives.
About Variety the Children’s Charity of St. Louis
Founded in 1933, Variety the Children’s Charity of St. Louis has been helping St. Louis–area children and teens with special needs for 90 years. The organization empowers Variety Kids, ages birth to 21, through access to vital medical equipment and therapy services as well as the opportunity to participate in innovative camp and performing arts programs. The Variety St. Louis Chorus, Dance, and Adaptive Dance Programs provide a chance for local kids and teens ages 9–20 of all abilities to sing, dance, and perform on stage for audiences around the St. Louis area, all while making new friends, building confidence, and learning new skills.
