Family Sunday—Fierce and Fancy: The Art of Protection
You’re invited to the Museum every Sunday for hands-on art activities and special interactive components for kids within the galleries. Each month’s activities focus on a different, family-friendly theme.
Celebrate the opening of Age of Armor: Treasures from the Higgins Armory Collection at the Worcester Art Museum with us during this special Family Sunday event! Join Swords and Roses to learn about the evolution of swords and armor during live performances in Sculpture Hall at 1:30 and 3 pm.
This performance will immerse you in the history of armor and weaponry as it evolved due to the materials available and advances in technology. Audience members will see a variety of weaponry in action and learn about the different parts of a sword. Stick around after each performance for a photo opportunity with these skilled performers!
Learn about chess and challenge a chess aficionado to a game on an oversize chessboard with the Saint Louis Chess Club.
On February 19 design your own wearable helmet inspired by the Museum’s vast collection of helmets, including the Zischägge Helmet in the William T. Kemper Foundation Gallery 125.
Use an Arms and Armor bingo card to explore the collection.
Contribute to a community armor artwork in Sculpture Hall all month long!
