You’re invited to the Museum for Family Sunday! Enjoy hands-on art activities and special interactive components for kids within the galleries. Family Sunday activities focus on a different, family-friendly theme each time. This Family Sunday is inspired by Shimmering Silks: Traditional Japanese Textiles, 18th-19th Centuries, which is on view through October 20 in the Carolyn C. and William A. McDonnell Gallery 100.

12:15 PM KIMONO SHOW
Education Center
Learn about the art of wearing kimono with The Japan America Society of Saint Louis in this interactive presentation. The talk/presentation on Japanese silk and the history of kimono will be followed by a kimono show that showcases 12 different kinds of kimonos.
1:30 PM VERY ASIAN YOUTH CONCERT

Enjoy the musical talents of St. Louis area AAPI youth presented by the Asian American Civic Scholars.
2:15 PM CALLIGRAPHY DEMONSTRATION

Experience the mesmerizing brush strokes of Japanese brush calligraphy (shodō) with the Japan America Society of Saint Louis.
2:30 PM FAMILY TOUR

Join us for a 30-minute tour of related artwork found in the Saint Louis Art Museum collection. Space is limited, and sign-up is required. Sign-up begins at 12 pm in Grigg Gallery 216. The Family Tour leaves at 2:30 pm from Grigg Gallery 216.
